Oasis
Another opportunity to socialize and make new friends is the
Chandler OASIS group. This group has elected officers and
meets several times a year. The purpose of the OASIS group
is to promote self-advocacy and independence. The OASIS group
also meets with other OASIS groups for pot luck dinners, dances,
pizza, etc.
Recreation Program
All Chandler-Gilbert Arc participants are encouraged to become
involved in the Chandler Parks and Recreation Program. They
have weekly activities such as picnics, dances, ball games,
arts, crafts, bowling, and special events.
Special Olympics
All persons served by Chandler-Gilbert Arc have the opportunity
to participate in the Maricopa County and Arizona State Special
Olympics programs. Chandler Parks and Recreation staff offer
supervised practice sessions and accompany the athletes, along
with our staff and volunteers, to the events. Special Olympics
training and supervision is provided through Chandler Parks
and Recreation. Staff and volunteers accompany the participants
during practice and to the State special events.
